chainsaw_d is god and my body is about to get torn to pieces over the next week or so. i am truly, truly grateful. this routine is going to require maximum nazi control. (1 comment | comment) | | Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 | | 6:14 pm |

new pics up AND got a new plan from chainsaw_d which i'll put up soon. VERY excited about it. (comment) | | Thursday, October 20th, 2005 | | 2:03 pm |
the lean gain game the aztec gold of the weight training world - lean gain. putting on weight, whilst staying ripped. it's something i'd well like to do, but i don't know how realistic it is. to be honest though, the winter coat (bulk) / summer cut (tone) system scares me now, since it took me so long to get to a point where i've managed to control my tone and weight loss. i'm very scared that if i put on any fat to get that bit bigger during months like january and february that i'll take as long again to remove it, come the hot days again. tonight's workout was good though. i'd presented chainsaw_d with a rundown of my daily routine and he corrected the odd bit here or there that should bring me closer to where i want to be. i'd like to get some photos done soon, and i'd like to think about doing some topless stuff. chainsaw_d is the belle du jour as he's just written out my new training plan. this is going to be interesting. VERY interesting. and we're now set on finding what my optimum fat burning pulse rate is. oh yes. we shall burn until the pope smells the carbon. awkward zoe took me out to the cinema last night, and about an hour or so in i got severe cramp in the back of my leg / thigh. whatever's behind the quads.
i haven't had cramp in ages.
i'm eating well though, and manesh at the gym said i was looking particularly lean today, which is good. the new abs routine is interesting, what's funny is that already my abs are strengthening - i'm much more capable of using the extra weight i'm holding than i was earlier in the week. cardio cardio cardio right, that's it, i'm off to do some cardio.
this WILL work. (comment) | | Monday, August 15th, 2005 | | 2:29 pm |
up, and down, and up, and down rampant mood swings with regards to my body at the moment. it's madness. leading up to, and including, this weekend, i was on a real downer about the way i'm looking and not really progressing. then, i trained today and i feel ok about myself. very annoying. today, i decided to bump up my cardio a bit, increase the intensity somewhat. it's funny how such a minimal change can cause such considerable side effect - purely by boosting the speed from 6.0 to 6.5 and then to 7.0 at the early stages of my uphill walk i found myself with a lingering stitch and slight fatigue in my chins plus a noticeable shift in heart BPM. it's manageable though, and nothing i haven't experienced before and eventually got over. it's actually almost exactly the same sensation i had when i first started doing these 45 minute uphill treadmills (they were at 6.0), so i must've just got fitter, i just need to do it again. i WILL match this, i'm going to keep it up and make sure that this last edge that seems to want to come off me, fat wise, will finally go. i plan on being considerably leaner by mid september so i'm going to go back to chainsaw_d's system of no nutritional intake for an hour after morning cardio, i'm going to cut down a tad on later carbs. i've still got a few more days left of the final dregs from my norandrostenedione stash, which i'm now double-dosing since i didn't get that much from it last time. i doubt it'll do much, but it'll fill the gap until i can start back on a cycle of creatine. it's funny what can motivate us. i was looking at perish's model page ( http://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=1262) earlier, just before i went to the gym, it really pushed me to go a lot harder for it, i'd like to try and get to that stage of body control, the work he gets is phenomenal. weirdness so i've pretty much run out of cyclone. i'd worked it out that the pack should've lasted for about 4 weeks, it's lasted about 2. not impressed. i'm also not totally convinced on its effects to be honest.
i feel like i've got some of the creatine bloat, but not that much of the positive effect.
anyway, i'm down to 12st3 now, which is really low, and yet i'm still maintaining some muscle. had an odd moment training my abs, lying down i was able to feel (for the first time EVER) my ab definition. this was sadly through the residual flesh i have on top of them, but nevertheless they were there and i finally now have some indication of what they'll look like when my body fat is low enough and they come through.
i've still got his bottle of creatine ethyl ester, so i might give that a go soon. (3 comments | comment) | | Sunday, July 31st, 2005 | | 3:21 pm |
cardio blitz day woke up about 11am cyclone protein shake, 1 pint of skimmed milk. about an hour later, two 'charge' pills and off to the gym. managed to convince them to put 'scuzz' on the TV for me. 45 minutes at 6.0 speed (first 13mins rising 0.5% incline every 30secs, then last 10mins increase 0.1 point in speed every 2mins) *machine stopped, reprogrammed (takes about 30secs)* another 20 minutes straight in at 6.5 & 13% incline *reprogram again* another 20 at the same again 15 minutes on stationary cycle at level 8 3 x 25 reps kneeling cable crunches then i played around with some bench crunches (never know the name of them, but you're sat like a V shape and drawing the knees into the chest) and some oblique work. weighed myself, i'm now at 12st6. it's odd, using the stationary cycle i saw my arms from a different angle, and though i'm still not very happy with them i'd say it's possible that they've never been this formed. it's possible that this is the most efficient i've been. so masive cheers to chainsaw_d then. since i got back, i'm on my usual bottle of water, then the sunday hal special deluxe: pint of skimmed milk large portion of real bran 2 scoops of protein shake half a pack of fresh raspberries 2 granny smith apples 2 bananas (4 comments | comment) | | Friday, July 8th, 2005 | | 6:26 pm |
it's been a while... and things had been going so well.
that is, until the mother visited on monday. funny how a bit of mother's own cooking can send it all to shit, especially followed by the return of the wife, mid-week. those are the days that THOU SHALT NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE. except for food.
typically, the days have been panning out very well, with me using the following system -
monday: 45mins cardio about midday (not long after i've woken, to be honest) chest & biceps then abs after work
tuesday: 45mins cardio about midday then abs
wednesday: 45mins cardio about midday shoulders & legs then abs after work
thursday: 45mins cardio about midday then abs
friday: 45mins cardio about midday back & triceps then abs after work
saturday: 45mins cardio about midday then abs
sunday: 45mins cardio about midday then abs
the abs i do on the non weights days are more intense. i'll detail what alan has put me onto with the weights, but it's fair to say that it's been the most effective system i've been on yet, i'm actually growing whilst also losing fat.
typically i have a 'hal special' shake when i come back from cardio, then some cottage cheese and tuna, proteing shake after weights days and something small in the evening. i've just finished the fourth and final week on norandrostenedione and i'm mixed about it to say the least. as with all of these things, it's tricky to say yay or nay about definite effect since you can't prove either way, but i'd say it's helped me stabilise.
this may also be down to the fact that i'm not pushing on excessive weight shifting with the irons, more that i'm concentrating on good form and making it to the last rep of the last set without losing what's supposed to form the muscle. technique.
this week was tricky, but i'm about to get back on form today. i say tricky because i wasn't able to do weights on monday, delayed a day, then wasn't able to go at all yesterday, so i feel staggered. i'm about to leave now though, off to do back etc.
more on all this shortly. (comment) | | Sunday, June 12th, 2005 | | 11:11 pm |
cardio blitz today saw me doing 55mins of cardio. it wasn't without good cause though, last night's indulgence made me, nay, FORCED me to consume chocolate. i felt wretched.
tomorrow may need morning cardio and lunchtime weights. i hope i get there to do it. (comment) | | Thursday, June 2nd, 2005 | | 10:35 am |
hmm i'll be honest - since training it this tuesday, my chest is looking good.
zoe's been helping me train it and it's making the world of difference. i suddenly noticed that my strength MUST be good at the moment (despite me generally trying to cut back on weight at the moment), as detailed here:
flat bench press: normal bench bar, which i assume weighs around 20kg on its own 22.5kg on either side 4 x 10 reps
inclince bench press: same bar 17.5kg on either side 4 x 10 reps
inclince dumbell press: 17.5kg dumbells (WAY easy) 4 x 10 reps
flat dumbell flyes: 12.5kg dumbells 3 x 12 reps
now, ok, yes, that may not seem much, and i've certainly been capable of lifting heavier weight (the most i ever put on the sides of my flat and incline presses was when i was training with my manager, he used to put on 30 / 32.5kg) but then consider that
a) i currently have almost bugger all carbs in my diet
b) i'm not actually consuming that much food at all
c) i only ever used to 8 reps
the reps count has really surprised me. at this moderate weight but with the completion of these sets with good form, it means i'm a lot stronger than i was. (5 comments | comment) | | Monday, May 23rd, 2005 | | 5:27 pm |
the current plan, in its entirity - this is a write-up of the typical week that has been my training and dietary routine for the past few weeks, it's been based partly on alan's fat loss system and my foundation program as recommended by criticalbench: ( routine ) (12 comments | comment) | | 3:11 am |
things are going well, in gym land woke up early on thursday morning to get some training in before the three day gig stint ahead. managed to get both cardio AND shoulders done. i was well pleased to find that john from shellshock had some weights in his garage when we stayed over on the thursday night, so i managed to train my arms on friday morning, no chance of cardio though, so i made sure i stuck to regular hydroxycut.
something i was trying to work out: perhaps some of what we do onstage may pass as a fair bit of cardio? it's not like we're a sedentary band, and our sets are certainly longer than the necessary 25mins. i never come off the stage without being soaked through and thoroughly out of breath.
i'd like to say that my diet has been kept in some form of decency whilst on the road, and as far as food is concerned - it has. but i can't deny that i had a few drinks. a fair few. you get offered, you know how it is.
anyhow, on to the most feared bit of my recent training - THE BODY FAT PERCENTAGE (eek)
thoisdee morning, stan at our gym did both me and zoe. the results for me were as followed (i'm writing this down here as stan wrote it, there are a few terms and references i just don't recognise):
height - 183cm weight - 83kg
body fat - 18.7% body fat kg - 15.5 t.fat% - 13>19 BMI 25.1 - 0523R BMR kcal - 1945 t.wgt kg - 071>081 lean kg - 67.5 lean % - 081.3 wtr lt: 049.4 wtr %: 59.5 t. wtr % - 59>65
interesting results. i'm pleased that i'm below 20%, but it's nowhere near where i want it to be. i'll keep cutting up for june 13th, but after that i'll bulk and cut back around july. ideally, i'd like to get to about 12% and maybe finally reach 200lbs, but i think this may be a little wishful for then. back on track zoe and i are attacking this full on, i feel.
we've got the hydroxycut, and i'm feeling the addiction again.
today was great. woke up a lot earlier than i expected (having got home at something like 4am from the birmingham gig) and basically had a hassle-free day to devote to cardio and abs.
so, after two ripped fuel tabs and two tabs of tribulus, i did the following -
5 mins rowing 10 mins uphill brisk walk 15 mins steps 10 mins cycle 5 mins cross trainer
then a load of varied ab work.
however, i think i need to cut down on the orange juice. it's a little too carb-inducing to drink a whole carton a day. (comment) | | Monday, April 11th, 2005 | | 11:04 am |
back on track after a week of spaffing it with the wife at the gym, i've managed to start this week back on alan's system of morning cardio and no food for 90mins after.
i'm going to combine this with cardio in the evening with the normal weights workout with zoe.
let's hope some fat will come off for whitby at least. (comment) | | Friday, April 1st, 2005 | | 6:27 pm |
three weeks potentially, until the next interlock photo shoot.
if i manage to just sort my fucking head out with it all, i may be able to spend that time on a severe loading phase.
i just need to print out my new training schedule. (comment) | | Thursday, March 10th, 2005 | | 3:03 pm |
so.. the situation has been crap.
i haven't been able to go the gym for the last 4 weeks really.
they fucked up my membership, royally, and i just haven't had the time. the fear is that i've got a photo shoot for interlock in two sunday's time.
i need to get my hands on some creatine ethyl ester. i need to get back up to scratch.
doctor alan has put me on the hydroxycut, and we'll see how that does, as i've also been eating like shit. time to sort it. (comment) |
